Carbone hopes to seal Villa transfer - 12 Oct

Benito Carbone has instructed his agents to resurrect his move to Aston Villa after dropping his wage demands that originally scuppered the deal.

Carbone has been told he can leave Sheffield Wednesday for around £1.5m after failing to agree a new contract with the Hillsborough club, with both Villa and Derby County keen to sign the former Inter Milan man.

But Carbone's wage demands - rumoured to be £1m a year after tax - scuppered any hopes the Italian had of continuing his Premiership career at Villa Park.

However, after a proposed switch to Pride Park fell through and moves back to his native Italy failed to materialise, Carbone has been forced to reconsider his options and is now hoping his reduced wage demands will finally seal a move to the Midlands.
