Gareth Southgate opened his England scoring
account with a blistering finish from a free kick in the 3 nil win over
Luxembourg last night. A free kick by Beckham was crossed in by Neville and although Southgates initial header was blocked his follow-up was superb. Speaking after the game manager John Gregory said of Southgates goal "when he goes up for corners at Villa we call him the ornament, because he doesn't make the slightest bit of difference. But what a goal, I am delighted for the lad" Lee Hendry was on target for the England U21 game, opening the scoring with a blistering 25 yard wonder goal. Star of the future Darius Vassel was also on the score sheet for England U18 as they blitzed Italy U18. A very good week for Villa then, a man in every England squad this week and each man scoring for his country. |
