Merson gives thumbs up to new Villa strike force (Nov 9)
Recent summer signing Paul Merson has gave his thumbs up to the new Villa strike-force of Stan the man Collymore and Neon Dion Dublin.

Speaking after Saturdays game against Tottenham,  where Dublin and Collymore linked up well to score three goals he said he was happy with the recent squad addition,  and doesn't mind moving back into his former role of behind the front two.  He said Dion's arrival could be the final piece in the jigsaw to give us a title chance. We now have competition throughout the team and a few players around who can score goals. That's essential if you are going to win the league.
'That's how it was at Arsenal when we won the championship with George Graham. I got 16 goals, Alan Smith 20-odd and Brian Marwood scored a few. It's important you all chip in rather than rely too heavily on one man.'

All three players could have been on the score sheet yesterday,  with Merson very unlucky not to score when his shot was blocked when it seemed to be going in.
