Villa's new striker Dion Dublin made
a dream start to his Aston Villa career after scoring twice on his debut
in-front of the Holte End.
Villa's new acquisition, who cost £5.75 million, showed he was worth every penny with a good game, although he will feel he was robbed of his hat trick over a dodgy offside decision. The tall man was a constant threat in the Tottenham defence and an Alan Wright free kick nearly bought his first goal but his header was just over. His first goal came from a corner, bouncing back from John Scales and 5 yards out he couldn't miss. The second goal came after a Tottenham mix-up between Darren Anderton and John Scales let Dublin through, and one-on-one with the keeper he slotted it underneath him from 15 yards out. If Dublin can keep this form up then Villa must surely be taken seriously as title contenders. |
