Aston Villa manager John Gregory has
made a plea to keeper Mark Bosnich to play through the pain barrier against
Manchester United on Saturday.
Bosnich picked up a shoulder injury in the win against Coventry City almost 2 months ago, and is showing little sign of recovering in time for the match. Gregory said: "Mark has not made the progress we had hoped for. He has seen a specialist and there is a deep-rooted problem, The shoulder is giving him a lot of stick and keeps letting him know something is not right. "But, as far as we know, it will not require surgery and is not getting any worse so Mark has got to get back to work, train as hard as he can and play to see if he is able to play through the pain barrier. "I am hoping he can play in the reserves on Tuesday and, if he comes through that and gets in the full training he hasn't had so far, he has got a good chance of being ready for selection at some stage before the weekend. "I would be lying if I said we hadn't missed his presence during matches. He does command the 18-yard box so well and he is one of the top goalkeepers in the world." |
