Well deserved call-ups for Villa young stars (11 Nov)

England's next match could see the dawning of a new era in Villa history with a record number of current Internationals.
With Glenn Hoddle persuading Paul Merson to drop his international retirement plan, and promising he will play some part in the next game, with Lee Hendry likely to start the game.

Dion Dublin has been called up and should make an appearance,  Gareth Barry has been drafted up to the U21 squad, Gareth Southgate with take his usual starting role and Ugo Ehiogu could be in line for a shock call up.  Alan Thompson and Alan Wright feel they are not too far from a call up,  with the England squad genuinely lacking good left footed players.
Stan Collymore also, could resume his England career if he carries on the way he is playing now.  The Villa record signing hasn't played for England since the Umbro cup game versus Japan.

Never before have so many Villa players been involved in the England scene,  and with Villa's 10 English stars leading the rest of the premiership,  England's international future could look very rosy indeed.
